Installing tiles is a tiring job, so many consumers choose to hire a company. However, the qualifications, systems, and scales of each company vary, leading to varying degrees of dissatisfaction among consumers after renovation. Therefore, consumers should carefully inspect their work after renovation and promptly address any unsatisfactory areas to avoid affecting their future life. According to professionals, there are many tips for inspecting tiles, which consumers may find helpful.
First, check if the grout lines are aligned, if the overall surface is flat, if the grout lines are consistent in size, and if the joints are filled tightly, straight, evenly wide and narrow, and without obvious misalignment. Second, check for hollowing. The usual method is to use a small iron hammer to gently tap the four corners and the middle of the tiles to detect any hollow sounds. A hollow sound indicates poor installation and substandard workmanship, requiring immediate removal and replacement. Mark any hollow tiles during inspection.
Finally, the water test is crucial. Balconies and bathrooms have drainage slope requirements. This "procedure" can be done last, after all other items have been inspected. Fill a container with water and pour it onto the floor. Wait a moment; if there is any standing water, it indicates that the drainage slope is insufficient.
In addition, tile installation inspection is related to the quality of the tiles. The internal consolidation process is not fully completed immediately after installation. It is best to wait 20 days for the cement strength to fully develop before inspection, to see if the tiles crack. (Source: Suzhou Daily)
